Hey there, my name is Maralee Rischling! Born and raised in northwest Nebraska, I’m a Midwest girl at heart. I picked up a camera in middle school and cherished my side hobby until high school, when I really fell in love with photography. I recently graduated from Black Hills State University with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography.
As a lifestyle photographer, my passion is fostering connection and authenticity in front of my lens. I love using my craft to bring a client’s vision to life, whether it be in-studio portraits, action shots of your business, or a fun family session at golden hour. I am a nostalgic person by nature, so you can always count on me to capture those candid, genuine moments that make a photo shoot special.
So, what’s up with the cranes?
I was raised in the beautiful Sandhills of western Nebraska, and as I began my professional career, I wanted a way to honor my roots and the place that formed me. Cranes are among some of the oldest living birds on earth, and sandhill cranes have been in Nebraska for millions of years. Sandhill cranes are an elegant grey color with a striking red cap that makes them easy to identify.
Cranes often symbolize hope, patience, and peace. These are all themes I emulate in my photography. As a sentimental artist, I feel there is no better way to remember where I came from than to carry the sandhill crane with me wherever I go.
