Motif

For generations, my family has shared a love of music. As a child, singing and hammering on the family piano soon turned into piano lessons. With a band director as a father, performing in music ensembles started early in my childhood. This part of my life continues to this day. I was a musician before I was an adult, before I was a photographer, and before I even knew who I was.

Motif is about music as a touchstone of my identity and my past. Music gives me a source of connection and collaboration not only with my family, but also in my everyday life. Motif distills time and memory. Within these photographic and auditory moments, I explore my connection to music and my family.
